Greetings from Canaan Taiwanese Christian Church! By God’s grace and guidance, we have recently completed our move to our new church location, now conveniently located in the golden triangle area of Silicon Valley, with easy access to all cities in the Bay Area.
I’m writing to you at this time for a very specific request and support. As you may know, we have been blessed for the last 3 years with Chris Liu (son of Rev Donald Liu) as our Youth Pastor. He as served faithfully in the youth ministry, and we have witnessed the growth of the our EverGlow youth ministry in both Friday night fellowships, as well as Sunday worship services. Sadly, Chris has been called to complete his studies in M. Div, and will be leaving us this summer to return to school full time.
We are in search of a fulltime Youth Pastor to continue to lead the EverGlow youth ministry. As our overall theme this year is “Church Building, Building Church”, youth ministry is one of the key areas that we need to continue to build and nurture for the growth and vitality of CTCC.
We firmly believe God has prepared a special person already. Job Summary:
The Youth Pastor is a fulltime position responsible for the development and oversight of all CTCC ministries to junior high and senior high youths, with the goal of our youths becoming devoted followers of Jesus Christ. The Youth Pastor leads the youths through preaching, biblical teaching, fellowship, and outreach ministries; all of which serves to train and equip the youths with a strong Christian foundation in preparation for their young adult life.
Desired Qualifications:
• One who exhibits a personal and growing relationship with God, a teachable spirit, and a healthy family life.
• Minimum of a bachelor’s degree; M. Div degree is a plus. Must have prior experience in youth ministry, and a spiritual life congruent with biblical mandates for leaders (1 Timothy 3:1-7)
• One who is called to the youth ministry. Possess passion, patience, and love for the youths, and focused in leading them closer to Jesus Christ.
• One who has a passion for evangelism and outreach, both personally and at the ministry level.
• An engaging teacher, with a strong biblical and theological background, who is in agreement with CTCC’s ministry and mission.
Responsibilities:
• Lead and organize effective youth programs implementing fellowship, worship, biblical teaching, evangelism, as well as short-term mission opportunities. Current ministries include:
o Friday night Youth Group
o Sunday morning Youth Service
o Sunday School curriculum
o Wednesday night prayer meeting
• Recruit, train, and shepherd volunteer youth counselors. Disciple them for a fruitful ministry.
• Actively seeks to grow the CTCC youth ministry in meaningful ways.
• Provide counseling and spiritual direction to youth on an as needed, individual basis.
• Incorporate regular visitations as part of the ministry to increase communication and understanding with parents and families.
• Become an active member of the Pastoral staff. Attend monthly Consistory and Session meetings.
• Reports to the Senior Pastor, and work closely with the Pastoral staff, as well as the Youth Committee, in developing long term plan and strategy for the youth ministry.
