Leadership Position Description

Position Title: Jr. High Ministry Youth Intern

Principle Function

The Jr. High Ministry Intern position focuses on training and preparation with work in early adolescent youth in a church environment, and to assist Youth Ministry in ministering to Jr. High youth.

Requirements

  1. Definite calling into full-time ministry.
  2. Adhere to Southern Baptist faith and message.
  3. Must have completed first full year in seminary.
  4. Minister and work minimum of 20 hours per week.
  5. Have some experience/understanding of youth/Asian culture.
  6. Internship is a minimum of 1 year and maximum of 2 years.
  7. Work with English-speaking youth, grades 7th-9th.

Specific List of Responsibilities

  1. Assist Minister of Youth in Jr. High Ministry.
  2. Preach in the Youth Service or directly to Jr. High youth.
  3. Attend Youth Ministry Team meetings.
  4. Be prepared to serve in any capacity directed by the Minister of Youth.
  5. Assist in Jr. High Sunday School department
  6. Assist in Jr. High CTP (training)
  7. Assist in RA’s/Acteens (fellowships)
  8. Assist in Jr. High Camp
  9. Attend Youth Service
  10. Attend Children and Youth Prayer Meetings.

Additional Information

  1. First Chinese Baptist Church is primarily ethnic Chinese in Los Angeles Chinatown with multi-generations, and with three languages:  Cantonese, English, and Mandarin.
  2. Compensation is either paid tuition, books, and fees up to $12,000.00 or $1000.00 per month stipend.

Asian Pacific American Legal Center (APALC) has several openings

The Asian Pacific American Legal Center (APALC) has several open positions, including two related to the November 2008 election. RESEARCH ASSISTANT, Demographic Research Project — This part-time, temporary position will support the 2008 Southern California Voter Survey. The Southern California Voter Survey is the largest exit poll of its kind in California, capturing important information on the behavior and attitudes of Asian American and Pacific Islander voters in Los Angeles and Orange Counties. Findings from the survey are used to support the voting rights of Asian American and Pacific Islander communities. This position begins in August, 2008 and ends in December, 2008 (20 hours per week).

EXIT POLL COORDINATOR, Voting Rights Project — This part-time, temporary position will lead APALC’s efforts to monitor November 2008 election sites in Los Angeles and Orange Counties to ensure that minority and limited English speaking voters have full access to voting as required by the Voting Rights Act. This position is available September 8, 2008 and ends in December 2008 (25 hours per week).

COMMUNITY LEGAL ADVOCATE, Asian Language Legal Intake Project (ALLIP) — This is a full-time bilingual (Korean) position that staffs the Asian Language Legal Intake Project, a legal hotline that expands access to justice for low-income limited English speaking immigrants. Coordinated with three other non-profit legal services programs, ALLIP is recognized nationally as a model for its innovation and its ability to expand legal representation and advice to Asian clients in Los Angeles and Orange Counties. The position is available immediately and will remain open until filled.

HOPE Christian Fellowship is an evangelical, multi-cultural, non-denominational church in the city of San Gabriel in Los Angeles County, CA. We are a growing cell-based church with a weekly attendance of approximately 250 adults and children (about 35 youth). We believe that our cell groups are central to the community life, ongoing discipleship, and evangelistic lifestyle of our members and are believing God to reveal the person He has called to fill the position of Associate Pastor of Youth and Worship. This position entails leading the youth ministry (60%), leading the worship ministry (25%), supervising the children’s ministry team (10%) and other pastoral responsibilities (5%).

We are seeking a dynamic individual who has a heart-felt calling and strong desire to minister the love of Jesus Christ to junior and senior high youth. “Empowering Youth” is one of our seven core values and we are in search of someone who longs to shape Christ in the lives of our youth. We are seeking an individual who also has experience leading worship for weekly services and prior experience managing staff. The ideal candidate would be a Christ-centered individual who is passionate about cell groups and evangelism (both local and global), loves young people, loves worship, has a strong prayer life and solid biblical knowledge, relates well to people, and is a good relationship builder and team player.

This full-time pastoral position with health and vacation benefits is a great opportunity for an individual to be a part of a church which, by God’s grace, is positioned for future growth. A seminary degree (or equivalent experience) and at least 3 years of full-time pastoral employment, along with youth and worship leadership experience is required. Cross-cultural experience strongly preferred and mid-to-large church experience or church planting is a plus. Salary will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
