Leadership Position Description

Position Title: Jr. High Ministry Youth Intern

Principle Function

The Jr. High Ministry Intern position focuses on training and preparation with work in early adolescent youth in a church environment, and to assist Youth Ministry in ministering to Jr. High youth.

Requirements

  1. Definite calling into full-time ministry.
  2. Adhere to Southern Baptist faith and message.
  3. Must have completed first full year in seminary.
  4. Minister and work minimum of 20 hours per week.
  5. Have some experience/understanding of youth/Asian culture.
  6. Internship is a minimum of 1 year and maximum of 2 years.
  7. Work with English-speaking youth, grades 7th-9th.

Specific List of Responsibilities

  1. Assist Minister of Youth in Jr. High Ministry.
  2. Preach in the Youth Service or directly to Jr. High youth.
  3. Attend Youth Ministry Team meetings.
  4. Be prepared to serve in any capacity directed by the Minister of Youth.
  5. Assist in Jr. High Sunday School department
  6. Assist in Jr. High CTP (training)
  7. Assist in RA’s/Acteens (fellowships)
  8. Assist in Jr. High Camp
  9. Attend Youth Service
  10. Attend Children and Youth Prayer Meetings.

Additional Information

  1. First Chinese Baptist Church is primarily ethnic Chinese in Los Angeles Chinatown with multi-generations, and with three languages:  Cantonese, English, and Mandarin.
  2. Compensation is either paid tuition, books, and fees up to $12,000.00 or $1000.00 per month stipend.

Chinese Church in Christ, San Jose is looking for a Youth Ministry Intern to work alongside our Youth Minister with students in grades 7-12.  Our group consists of about 120 teenagers about a third who are in junior high.  These youth are also mainly American-born Chinese students whose parents immigrated from China, Taiwan, or Southeast Asia.  This is a part time position for anyone who has a love to help youth grow in the knowledge of God and show God’s love and grace to them.

Youth Director – Chinese Presbyterian Church, Oakland, CA

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
A full time ministry position to develop and implement programs which foster growing personal relationships with Christ within our youth, educate youth in biblical principles, encourage youth fellowship with peers, as well as with the church body as a whole, and evangelize the youth community. This is an exempt position.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• M. Div, BTh, MTh or equivalent education preferred.
• Two years of field experience required.
• Committed believer in and follower of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
• Belief in the Bible as the Word of God.
• Prefer bilingual (Cantonese/English) ability, with intercultural experience to relate to immigrant families.
• Previous youth, family, or children’s ministry experience.
• Passionate about youth outreach and able to articulate and relate personal faith to effectively reach the spiritual hearts of youth.
• Capable of leading graciously as a servant with self-direction and initiative to fulfill our vision for youth ministries to increase future membership.
• Ability to disciple youth on an individual and small group basis.
• Willingness and ability to reach out to non-Christian youth in the surrounding community.
• Outgoing and able to connect youth with other church members to strength the church family.
• Ability to lead with maturity and work as a team with staff and committee members.
• Motivated and self-disciplined, with strong administrative abilities, program and time management skills.
• Positive record of recruiting and the training lay volunteers to assist with youth ministries.
• Youth and family crisis experience and music/worship skills a plus.
• Willingness to commit to the position on a long-term basis.
• Able to work Saturdays and Sundays (weekday schedule flexible).
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Develop and implement programs for:
– Saturday, after-school and evening youth group programs for Kindergarten through college and young adults
– Supervision of all EBAYOM programs, especially summer school
– Small discipleship/study groups
– Small groups and/or outreach programs as appropriate for college age young adults
– Community outreach projects
– Sunday school classes and curriculum for K-12th grade

• Schedule and execute summer youth events and retreats.
• Work with staff to recruit, develop, supervise and support lay leader volunteers.
• Apply for grants to fund position and programs.
• Coordinate with other church programs and committees as they relate to youth.
• Plan, schedule and execute four quarterly church-wide activities (i.e. Easter, Harvest, Xmas parties, etc.).
• Serve on annual Retreat committee and coordinate youth programs for the retreat.
• Together with EBAOYM Committee, set program goals and adhere to youth budget.
• Participate in CPC staff meetings, EBAYOM meetings, and monthly Session meetings.
• Attend conferences, seminars or retreats in conjunction with ministry concerns, as cleared through Session.

RELATIONSHIPS:
• Reports to Pastor; Responsible to Session; performance reviews conducted by Session on an annual basis.
• Serves on EBAYOM committee.
• Live as a CPC member, including attendance at worship services and participation as requested.

Youth Pastor – Chinese for Christ of Hayward, CA

Arlington Chinese Church seeks an Associate Pastor for the English-speaking congregation

Arlington Chinese Church is seeking an Associate Pastor for the English-speaking congregation. The Associate Pastor shall work with the pastoral staff as a team, in which the Senior Pastor is the team leader, to fulfill the mission our Lord Jesus Christ has given to us.

Scope
The Associate Pastor is to nurture and shepherd the English-speaking congregation. He will assist in various ministries with the Chinese-speaking congregation, leading to the completion of the total vision and mission of the church.

Job Description

The Associate Pastor’s preaching and teaching duties include:
• Preaching on pulpit on Sunday worship service
• Preparing Sunday worship details
• Teaching adult Sunday school
• Equipping and providing support to English adult small group lay pastors
• Leading a small group when needed
• Equipping and empowering lay leaders

The Associate Pastor’s other duties include:
• Visitation of members and visitors
• Counseling members of the congregation
• Participate in elder and deacon meetings
• Administer ordinances
• Participate in prayer meetings
• Participate in evangelism and missions

The successful candidate must be a graduate of an accredited bible college or seminary in North America, Master of Divinity degree or higher preferred. The person must have three or more years of pastoral experience in North America, with experience in Chinese American churches helpful. The successful candidate must be fluent in spoken and written English. The ability to communicate in Mandarin or Cantonese is helpful but not required. It is preferable that the successful candidate be ordained and married. There is no ethnicity preference. The person must agree with ACC’s “Missions, Values, Vision, and Strategy” and abide by its constitution. Moreover, the successful candidate must transfer membership to ACC. A background and credit check will be conducted on the successful candidate. Salary will be commensurate with experience. A comprehensive benefits package will be provided.

ACC is non-denominational. We are a member of and partner with Southern
Baptist of Texas Convention to reach Texas for Christ through church planting. Our Sunday worship comprises of two Chinese worship services (Mandarin and Cantonese) and an English worship service. The church was founded in 1980 as a mission of the First Baptist Church, Arlington. The congregation at present consists of approximately 360 adults, 70 youth and 70 children. The church staff consists of a pastor, an interim youth pastor, a children’s minister, a minister for outreach ministry, a secretary and a part-time administrator.
