Position:
Full time Associate English Pastor, as part of the Austin Chinese Church Pastoral Team

Background:
Austin Chinese Church (ACC) is a non-denominational Christian church whose members mainly consist of Chinese-Americans and Chinese immigrants. ACC was established 26 years ago and has grown to 3 congregations (Mandarin, English, and Cantonese). The Pastoral Team consists of a Mandarin Pastor, an English Pastor, a Cantonese Pastor, a Youth Director, and a Children’s Director. Total attendance each Sunday is ~800. The English congregation consists of approximately 120 adults, 35 college students, 40 high school students, and 70 middle school students.

Job Description:
The Associate English Pastor will work under the direction of the English Pastor and is accountable to the Pastoral Team. The Associate English Pastor is to oversee and support the College and Single Adult ministries. Some of the specific duties include:

1. Oversee the development of the College and Single Adult ministries
A. Train and support these ministry team directors
B. Provide assistance with planning and coordinating these ministries
C. Oversee the caring ministry for these groups

2. Preach and teach
A. Team with the English Pastor in sermon development
B. Share preaching duties with the English Pastor
C. Participate in the teaching ministries

3. Work with the Pastoral Team and participate in other ACC ministries
A. Assist in developing the long-term English ministry strategy
B. Assist in developing an integrated multi-generational English ministry
C. Assist in developing the unity of the multicultural Chinese church

Qualifications:
1. Beliefs
A. Agrees with ACC’s Statement of Faith
B. Has a clear calling from God for pastoral ministry

2. Testimony
A. In accordance with 1 Peter 5:1-4, and
B. 1 Timothy 3:1-7

3. Spiritual Gifts
A. Preaching and teaching
B. Leadership

4. Education – Masters degree or above from an accredited seminary

5. Experience
A. At least three years of ministry in a North American Chinese church
B. At least two years of college ministry (preferred)

6. Marital Status
A. Married (preferred)
B. Wife supports the decision to minister at ACC and also agrees with ACC’s Statement of Faith

7. Culture
A. Fluent in English
B. Must be able to work with a multicultural team
C. North American-raised Chinese (preferred)

McCormick Seminary seeks AADVENT Project Coordinator

General Summary:
Oversees the annual summer retreat planning, execution and evaluation, as well as expands the “AADVENT on the Road” regional retreat model under the supervision of the AADVENT Director.  Oversees the website and other new media technologies as networking tools.  Assists the Director in planning, executing, and evaluating other of the AADVENT Project, including planning seminars, networking with constituency groups, and recruiting young adults and Asian American church leaders for Christian vocation.  The Coordinator reports to the Director and cooperates, coordinates, and interfaces with various offices of the seminary.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1.    Works with the Director to plan, execute, and evaluate the yearly Asian American Young Adult “Taste of Seminary” Seminars, and the Mentoring Pastors’ Orientations.

2.    Has direct oversight to plan and execute the yearly Asian American Young Adult Conferences/Retreats and the regional Asian American Young Adult Retreats.

3.    Maintains networks of pastors, church leaders, community leaders, denominational leaders, and young adult groups in the Asian American communities

4.    Develops an increased visible presence online

5.    Oversees the development and management of  the AADVENT Website, building community through the use of creative technology.

6.    Communicates with constituency groups via quarterly newsletter

7.    Works with the Director to oversee the production of an yearly externally-focused newsletter on “Transformative Leadership”

8.    Assists the Director in interpreting the Project to various seminary constituencies including the Board of Trustees, Faculty, students, staff, Presbyteries, etc.

9.    Performs additional related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

1.    M Div or MA in theology/ministry or working knowledge of the world of “theological education,” interest and expertise in areas of leadership development, vocational discernment, theological formation.

2.    Working knowledge of the Asian American communities in North America, their cultural norms and expectations, limitations and boundaries, role of the church in various communities, etc.; and vision and interest in developing leadership among Asian Americans.

3.    Excellent interpersonal skills, including compelling presence on the phone and in person, excellent writing skills, and exhibiting appropriate cultural sensitivities.

4.    Strong computer/technology skills including knowledge of database and various windows-based software (word processing, spreadsheet, desktop publishing, etc.).  Strong understanding, aptitude, and propensity for the use of the Internet and website maintenance.

5.    Organizational, communication and administrative skills demonstrating the ability to manage complex projects and deadlines, and handle several projects at one time; and demonstrated ability to plan and organize conferences, workshops, and seminars.

6.    Ability to work with supervision and effectively relate to a diverse group of people, including faculty, administrators, students, and pastors and other leaders in the Asian American communities.  Must be able to meet people easily, assess their needs and present the Seminary and the Project in ways which appeal to them.

7.    Able to travel several times a year.

8.    Dependability in following through with a project to the end and ability to discern when to take initiative and when to consult with others.

HOPE Christian Fellowship is an evangelical, multi-cultural, non-denominational church in the city of San Gabriel in Los Angeles County, CA. We are a growing cell-based church with a weekly attendance of about 250 adults and children (about 35 youth). We believe that our cell groups are central to the community life, ongoing discipleship, and evangelistic lifestyle of our members and are believing God to reveal the person He has called to fill the position of Associate Pastor for Youth and Young Adults.

We are seeking a dynamic individual who has a heart-felt calling and strong desire to minister the love of Jesus Christ to both youth (junior and senior high) and young adults (age 18-26). “Empowering Youth” is one of our seven core values and we are in search of someone who longs to shape Christ in the lives of our youth and young adults and to develop/oversee the church’s cell-based ministry to youth and young adults. The Department of Asian American Studies at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), invites applications forpart-time Lecturer positions (Non-Senate) with primary responsibility in teaching interdisciplinary courses in Asian American Studies for the 2008-2009 academic year.  Appointments are usually made per course.  Academic appointment dates are Fall (October 1-December 31, 2008); Winter (January 1-March 31, 2009); and Spring (April 1-June 30, 2009).

The Department of Asian American Studies at the University of California, Los Angeles, offers a major, minor, a graduate concentration, and Master of Arts.
